Founded in the 13th century on the site of an existing settlement, Santanyi is a delightful mix of old and the new Majorca. In the old quarter, the traditional architecture is made from particularly fine Mares stone and includes the Parish Church of Sant Andreu. In the village square, designer boutiques and international restaurants are as numerous as tapas bars and shops selling local handcrafted jewellery. Nearby, meanwhile, are more attractions. A protected nature area with fine beaches, dunes and wetlands features spectacular cliffs and local wildlife. The city of Felanitx, with its row of picturesque windmills and sumptuous parish church, is perfect for strolling around. And the tiny fishing port of Cala Figuera is one of the loveliest on the whole island, giving you plenty to see, and lots to remember.
