Guide to Magaluf

"The ultimate holiday resort for those who want fun, sun and to party till dawn..."

Ever popular Magaluf needs no introduction. Along with its neighbour Palma Nova, it's Majorca's best-known resort. And it's one of the biggest, too. It's packed with bars, cafes, restaurants, discos and nightclubs.

The beach is also the largest on this part of the island. A vast expanse of white sand which gently shelves into shallow waters, its size means there's plenty of space to stretch out. And if you've got kids, you won't struggle to keep them amused. When they get fed up with swimming and sand castle construction, there are several local attractions to banish the boredom, including the Aqualand water park.

There's also an amazing amount of eateries. You'll find everything from Mexican to McDonalds here. And they certainly go all out to make you feel at home. British-style pubs and cafes are everywhere you turn. So if you like to start the day with a full English breakfast and a proper cup of tea, you'll be in your element. Authentic Spanish cuisine is the hardest to pin down, but there are still a few traditional restaurants serving tapas and fresh fish.

As for Magaluf's nightlife, it's legendary. In the summer months things go from lively to fever pitch. There's a dozen or so discos and nightclubs, including one of Europe's largest. Not to mention music and karaoke bars that buzz on into the early hours.

For a change of scene, you might want to take a trip to the weekly Wednesday market at nearby Andratx. The streets are packed with colourful stalls selling a wide range of local produce, including fish, cheese and vegetables.
