An introduction to El Establo
Set within a 100-acre domain, El Establo is one of three houses (the others being La Casa Grande and La Casa Pequena) created by Frenchman Michel, a musician with an artist's discerning eye for beauty.
Cleverly converted from the old stable block which sits by the entrance to Los Algarrobales, El Establo blends rustic simplicity with comfort in an interior resplendent with Andalucian ceramics and artefacts.
Floor tiles the colour of Rioja wine and wheat-coloured walls are the foil for intricately wrought ironwork and antique farm tools in the open plan living-dining room. In the two bedrooms, one double and one twin, which share a bathroom, pastel walls and hand-woven rugs add a very Andalucian appeal to the airy interiors.
El Establo's greatest charms lie outside, where a splendid swimming pool is fringed by luxuriant shrubs. The breathtaking mountain views from the lovely shaded veranda make this spot particularly enticing for summer meals.

El Gastor is a lovely typical Spanish village in the middle of nowhere. No-one speaks any English but we got by great. There are all the basic shops and services (you can buy anything) in the village although restaurants are limited. There is a... more on this review
