And if you want lie back in tranquillity, you'll find no end of small, secluded coves scalloped along the shores. When it comes to eating out, charcoal-grilled sardines rule in Portimao – it's their big thing, and they're fat, tasty and gorgeous with a glass of Portuguese red. There are plenty of restaurants dotted about with traditional Portuguese dishes on the menu as well as international delicacies. End your evening at a bustling bar or shift up a gear in neighbouring Praia Da Rocha where you'll find a sparkling cosmopolitan scene.
