Set on a seven-kilometre stretch of Blue Flag beach, the Sani Beach Hotel and Spa couldn't be in a better location. The views from here are fantastic - you can see right out to sea. It's just a short stroll to the resort's private marina and perched on a hill next to the hotel is a tumble-down Byzantine tower.

From the outside, this hotel may look run of the mill. But following its recent makeover, the inside is much more design-led. In fact the coffee-and-cream decor in the rooms wouldn't look out of place in an interiors magazine. And the addition of flat screen TVs and DVD players makes the balconied space even more modern. Plus you can upgrade to a suite for more space and a living area.

A lot of thought has gone into the restaurants, too. In the Poseidon, they've kept things simple with a marble floor, cushioned banquettes and cream linen. The wall of windows gives it a real outdoors-indoors feel and the garden views are served up with themed international buffets. In the Veranda, meanwhile things take a more contemporary line with lots of pale wood, booth-style seating and a beige on beige colour scheme. Last but not least, there's Dolphins. Part of the pool bar, this al fresco eatery serves light meals and Greek dishes in relaxed surroundings.

The gardens also deserve a mention. All grass and trees, they provide plenty of space for sunbathing away from the pool area. But it's the massive, lagoon-style swimming pool that steals the show. Stretching along the seafront, it comes with a little island and wooden bridge. Teamed with luxurious wooden sunloungers and canvas parasols, it's certainly easy on the eye.

As to activities, take your pick from things scuba diving, bike riding and watersports. Or head to the spa for a massage or a session in the steam room. There's a really well-equipped gym, too, complete with personal training sessions. What's more, as part of the Sani Resort, you've also got the marina, shops and restaurants on your doorstep.

What a perfect hotel/beach complex for a relaxing weeks holiday. Excellent accomodation in Bock A, (not overlooking the pool, but the front of the hotel) which was great as we did not cook on the balcony after a day on the beach. Staff, food and service... more on this review
