This place comes out all guns blazing. First of all there's the location to consider. It's pulled right up against the coast with mountains sweeping off into the distance. What's more it offers up two small, private sandy beaches, along with several little terraces built into the rocks. Next up, there are the pools. You've got five to choose from - so you don't have to set your alarm for a sunbed – and three of them have got glamorous whirlpools.
The hotel gets a big tick on the facilities front, too. Practise your serve out on the tennis courts. Kick up a cloud of sand with a game of beach volleyball. Or maybe have a kick around out on the mini-football pitch. There's even more to choose from down by the sea. Take your pick from windsurfing, canoeing and snorkelling to name but a few. You can even take advantage of an introductory scuba lesson. If that sounds a bit too much like hard work though, make a beeline for the spa, sauna and hammam.
And as if all that wasn't enough food for thought, then the restaurants here certainly will be. Aside from the two main buffets, there are three a la cartes. Tuck into a slap-up seafood supper at the fish restaurant. Twizzle spaghetti in the Italian. Or go native and order moussaka in the Greek.
What better way to round off dinner than heading down to the open-air amphitheatre? Like something from Crete's toga-wearing past, this is the al fresco venue for fun-filled shows beneath the stars.
Sample specialities you may not have tried before such as saganaki (fried cheese) or kolokithakia (fried courgettes) with retsina or local wine.
